Quick answer: In Oregon, SNAP is run by the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).

Most households qualify with gross income up to 200% of the poverty line, $5,500 a month for four through February 2027. Benefits load on the Oregon Trail Card between the 1st and the 9th of each month.

Eligibility

Oregon SNAP's 200% income table, March 2026 to February 2027

Gross monthly income (before taxes) must be at or under the gross limit for your household size. Net income (after deductions) must be under the net limit. Maximum benefits apply from October 1, 2026.

Oregon SNAP (food benefits) gross and net monthly income limits and maximum monthly benefit by household size
HouseholdGross limit (200%)Net limitMax benefit
1 person$2,660$1,330$306
2 people$3,607$1,804$562
3 people$4,554$2,277$808
4 people$5,500$2,750$1,023
5 people$6,447$3,224$1,217
6 people$7,394$3,697$1,463
7 people$8,340$4,170$1,616
8 people$9,287$4,644$1,841

Each extra person adds $474 to the net limit and $225 to the maximum benefit.

Gross limit rule: ODHS: SNAP income limits, March 2026 to February 2027. Net limits and maximum benefits: USDA Food and Nutrition Administration FY2027 standards. Verified October 12, 2026.

Oregon uses broad-based categorical eligibility, so most households face the 200% gross limit. Households it does not cover use 130%: $1,729 a month for one person and $3,575 for four.

These are the limits ODHS publishes for March 2026 through February 2027, plus $947 for each extra person. They match 200% of the 2026 HHS poverty guidelines rounded up, which are the same guidelines USDA used for the FY2027 standards that started October 1, 2026.

Households that categorical eligibility does not cover, such as those with a member disqualified for an intentional program violation, use the 130% gross and 100% net limits, and a household with a member 60 or older or disabled only has to meet the net limit.

Meeting the income limit does not guarantee benefits. Your amount is figured from net income after deductions, so a household near the limit may get a small benefit or none.

Your amount is the maximum for your household size minus 30% of your net income. See the math with examples.

Worked example: 3 people, $1,500 a month in wages, no rent or child care costs
Gross income vs. the limit$1,500 (limit $4,554)
After the 20% earnings deduction$1,200
After the $217 standard deduction$983 net (limit $2,277)
30% of net income$295
Monthly benefit$808 max minus $295 = about $513

The card pays for groceries and seeds or plants that grow food, not alcohol, tobacco, vitamins, hot prepared food, pet food or household supplies.

Interview and processing time

After you apply, ODHS contacts you to schedule an interview, by phone or in person. Oregon rules set it as soon as possible and no later than 20 days after your filing date.

ODHS must finish regular applications within 30 days of the filing date, and expedited cases by the 7th day.

How to apply for SNAP in Oregon: ONE Online, phone or an ODHS office

Apply online at benefits.oregon.gov, where you create a ONE Online account, or on the Oregon ONE Mobile app. You can also apply by phone at 800-699-9075, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific, or in person at a local ODHS office.

Paper applications are available in several languages. ODHS takes documents by mail at PO Box 14015, Salem, OR 97309, or by fax at 503-378-5628. ODHS accepts all relay calls.

Need food now? Oregon's 7-day expedited SNAP

Oregon gives SNAP within seven days of your filing date if your countable income is under $150 a month and your liquid resources are $100 or less, or if your gross income and liquid resources together are less than your monthly rent or mortgage plus utilities.

Some destitute households that include a migrant or seasonal farmworker also qualify. Missing your interview does not cost you expedited service, and if ODHS denies expedited service you can ask for an expedited hearing.

Oregon's 200% income limit

ODHS raised the SNAP income limit from 185% to 200% of the federal poverty level on January 1, 2022. The current ODHS table runs from March 2026 through February 2027: $2,660 a month for one person, $5,500 for four, and $947 for each extra person.

Your benefit is still figured from net income after deductions, so a household near the 200% line may qualify for only a small amount. ODHS also says your house, car or money in the bank do not usually count against you.

Oregon Trail Card: balance, freeze, PIN and stolen benefits

Check your balance on the ebtEDGE website or app, on your last store or ATM receipt, or by calling 888-997-4447 at any hour. In ebtEDGE, choose Freeze Card under Account Services to freeze your card between purchases, and unfreeze it when you shop.

Change your PIN often by phone, in ebtEDGE or at an ODHS office. If benefits are stolen through skimming or phishing, cancel your card right away. ODHS says it may be able to replace stolen TANF cash, reported within 30 days, but its page lists no replacement for stolen SNAP.

Oregon SNAP work rules for adults 18 to 64

Federal changes in H.R. 1 raised the ABAWD age limit to 64 and ended the automatic exemptions for veterans, people experiencing homelessness and young adults aging out of foster care. ODHS began reviews in six counties on October 1, 2025 and went statewide in January 2026.

To keep SNAP past three months, do 80 hours a month of work or qualifying activities, such as paid work, volunteering, school at least half time, or the Oregon Employment Department's ABAWD Program.

Exemptions include pregnancy, a disability, a VA disability rating at any percent, and caring for a child under 6 or a child under 14 on your case.

Through 2026, people in Crook, Gilliam, Jefferson, Lake, Morrow, Sherman and Wheeler counties are exempt because those counties have no WorkSource Center, as are people on certain Tribal lands with high unemployment.

Tribal members and people who get Indian health services care are exempt too. Report an exemption in ONE or call 833-947-1694.

Oregon's Restaurant Meals Program is not live yet

Oregon passed Senate Bill 1585 in 2024 to create a Restaurant Meals Program for SNAP recipients who are 60 or older, have a disability, or are houseless. ODHS says it is still developing the program and plans to test it in select areas, with no launch date posted.

If ODHS denies or cuts your Oregon SNAP

Ask for a hearing by the 90th day after the date on your decision notice. You can also ask at any time during your certification period if you disagree with your current benefit amount. For SNAP, an oral or written request to ODHS counts, and the written form is DHS 443.

To keep benefits until the decision, ask by the 10th day after the notice date or by the action's effective date, whichever is later. A SNAP-only hearing should end with a final order within 60 days. An expedited SNAP hearing is held by phone within five working days of your request.

Oregon's halfway Periodic Report, and why your house and car usually don't count

In Oregon, SNAP goes through ODHS and its ONE system. You can report changes in your ONE account, on the Oregon ONE Mobile app, by calling 800-699-9075, or at a local ODHS office.

About halfway through your benefit period, ODHS mails a Periodic Report packet that you must return on time to keep SNAP. A renewal packet or notice arrives 45 days before your renewal is due.

ODHS points older adults and people with disabilities to the Aging and Disability Resource Connection of Oregon at 855-673-2372 for help with SNAP. You can also dial 211 or text your zip code to 898211.

Assets: Most Oregon households face no asset test: ODHS says your house, car or money in the bank do not usually count, and categorically eligible households are presumed to meet the resource rule. Households not covered can have up to $3,000, or $4,750 if a member is 60 or older or disabled.
