Quick answer: In Missouri, SNAP is the Food Stamp Program, run by the DSS Family Support Division (FSD).

Most households need gross income at or under 130% of the poverty line, $3,575 a month for four from October 1, 2026, and resources of $3,000 or less. Benefits load on your EBT card by birth month and last name.

Eligibility

Missouri Food Stamp Program limits: 130% gross and a $3,000 resource cap

Gross monthly income (before taxes) must be at or under the gross limit for your household size. Net income (after deductions) must be under the net limit. Maximum benefits apply from October 1, 2026.

Missouri Food Stamp Program (SNAP) gross and net monthly income limits and maximum monthly benefit by household size
HouseholdGross limit (130%)Net limitMax benefit
1 person$1,729$1,330$306
2 people$2,345$1,804$562
3 people$2,960$2,277$808
4 people$3,575$2,750$1,023
5 people$4,191$3,224$1,217
6 people$4,806$3,697$1,463
7 people$5,421$4,170$1,616
8 people$6,037$4,644$1,841

Each extra person adds $616 to the gross limit, $474 to the net limit and $225 to the maximum benefit.

Gross limit rule: USDA FNA FY2027 income standards. Net limits and maximum benefits: USDA Food and Nutrition Administration FY2027 standards. Verified October 12, 2026.

Missouri's DSS income chart states SNAP limits as 130% of poverty for gross income and 100% for net income. Missouri publishes no separate FY2027 SNAP table, so the figures above are USDA's 130% table for October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027.

Meeting the income limit does not guarantee benefits. Your amount is figured from net income after deductions, so a household near the limit may get a small benefit or none.

Your amount is the maximum for your household size minus 30% of your net income. See the math with examples.

Worked example: 3 people, $1,500 a month in wages, no rent or child care costs
Gross income vs. the limit$1,500 (limit $2,960)
After the 20% earnings deduction$1,200
After the $217 standard deduction$983 net (limit $2,277)
30% of net income$295
Monthly benefit$808 max minus $295 = about $513

The card pays for groceries and seeds or plants that grow food, not alcohol, tobacco, vitamins, hot prepared food, pet food or household supplies.

Payment schedule

Birth month and last name decide your Missouri deposit day

Interview and processing time

If an interview is required, FSD calls you after it gets your application. If you miss the call, call 855-823-4908 or visit an FSD Resource Center.

You will typically know within 30 days, and some emergency cases get SNAP in seven days or less.

Missouri food stamp application: online, mail, fax or in person

Apply online through myDSS, print the paper application, or ask for a printed one by mail. Upload the finished form at mydssupload.mo.gov, mail it to the Family Support Division, PO Box 2700, Jefferson City, MO 65102, fax it to 573-526-9400, or take it to a local FSD Resource Center.

For translation help, call 855-373-4636 and ask for a translator. Once FSD has your application and supporting documents, processing can take up to 10 days, and you will typically know within 30 days whether you are approved.

Need food now? Missouri's 7-day expedited SNAP

FSD screens every application for expedited service. You qualify if your gross monthly income is under $150 and your liquid resources are $100 or less, or if your income and liquid resources together are less than your monthly shelter costs.

Destitute migrant or seasonal farmworker households with $100 or less in liquid resources also qualify. To be screened, complete Section 2 of the SNAP application or tell FSD these questions apply to you when you apply.

New in Missouri: proof of rent and utilities from October 1, 2026

Starting October 1, 2026, FSD asks for documented proof of shelter costs, dependent care and countable resources instead of taking your word alone. It applies to new applications, recertifications due on or after that date, and requests to add a person. Current households act only when they recertify.

Proof can be a lease signed by your landlord, a rent receipt with the landlord's contact details, a mortgage or property tax statement, or recent utility bills. A signed statement from the person you pay, with their name, phone, address, amount and how often you pay, also works.

You get 10 days to send proof. If you do not, FSD still processes your case but leaves out the deduction, which can lower your benefit. You can send the proof later, and the deduction may then be added.

Missouri's Healthy SNAP changes start February 15, 2027

Governor Kehoe's Executive Order 25-30 told DSS to seek a USDA waiver to change what SNAP can buy in Missouri, favoring healthy foods and discouraging foods high in added sugar. In June 2026, DSS set a new official launch date of February 15, 2027. Until then, SNAP purchase rules in Missouri have not changed.

Missouri work rules for able-bodied adults under H.R. 1

Missouri put the H.R. 1 work rule changes in place on November 1, 2025. Able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) must meet the federal work rules, 80 hours a month of work, volunteering or training, or SNAP is limited to three months in 36. Missouri's SkillUP program offers job training.

The upper age exemption is now 65 and older. The dependent exemption now covers only adults with a child under 14, and the automatic exemptions for veterans, homeless people and young adults who aged out of foster care were removed. Existing statuses are rechecked at your next recertification.

If FSD denies, cuts or stops your Missouri food stamps

Ask for a hearing within 90 calendar days of the date on your FSD action notice. To keep your benefits at the old amount until the decision, ask before the change on your notice takes effect, which is at least 10 days after the notice. If you lose, you may have to repay benefits you got during the appeal.

You can ask your local FSD Resource Center by phone, in person or in writing, or call 855-373-4636. Your action notice explains how to ask and your deadline. A hearing only about SNAP should be decided within 60 days of your request.

Only in Missouri

Missouri still counts resources, and won't replace skimmed benefits

Missouri DSS still uses the name Food Stamp Program for SNAP in its manuals and web addresses. The Family Support Division (FSD) of the Department of Social Services takes applications, holds interviews and decides cases through local FSD Resource Centers.

Report a lost or stolen Missouri EBT card, or charges you do not recognize, to 800-997-7777 right away. DSS says SNAP benefits stolen by skimming or phishing after December 20, 2024 cannot be replaced.

The Missouri DSS income chart dated October 1, 2026 still lists the older SNAP limits ($41,796 a year for four, about $3,483 a month). The figures on this page use USDA's FY2027 130% limits, which start October 1, 2026.

Assets: Missouri counts resources: your household can own up to $3,000, or $4,750 if at least one member is over 60 or disabled. Your home, vehicles, life insurance, burial plots or prepaid burials, personal property that brings in no income, and savings and pension plans do not count.

Missouri food stamp answers, straight from FSD's own rules

Gross income must be at or under 130% of the poverty line, $3,575 a month for four from October 1, 2026, and net income under 100%. The DSS income chart dated October 1, 2026 still lists the older limits, so this page uses USDA's FY2027 figures.

Passing the $3,000 resource test and the 130% income test comes first. Then FSD takes the FY2027 maximum, $1,023 a month for four or $306 for one, and subtracts 30% of your net income. Eligible one- and two-person households get no less than $25.

On the 11th. Missouri loads SNAP by the birth month of the person the benefits are issued to and the first letter of their last name. June births get the 10th for A to K and the 11th for L to Z. Dates run from the 1st to the 22nd.

DSS has set February 15, 2027 as the official launch date for Healthy SNAP, after announcing a new timeline in June 2026. It follows Executive Order 25-30, favoring healthy foods over foods high in added sugar. Until then, SNAP purchase rules in Missouri have not changed.

Yes. DSS says SNAP benefits stolen by skimming or phishing after December 20, 2024 cannot be replaced. Report a lost or stolen Missouri EBT card, or charges you do not recognize, to 800-997-7777 right away.

Able-bodied adults without dependents, now up to age 64, must work, volunteer or train 80 hours a month, or SNAP stops after three months in 36. Since November 1, 2025, only a child under 14 exempts a parent, and veterans and homeless adults lost their exemption. SkillUP offers job training.
